Job Title: Hotel General Manager

Location: Abijoh GRA, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The Hotel General Manager (GM) is responsible for overseeing the overall operations and strategic direction of the hotel, ensuring exceptional guest service, optimal staff performance, financial profitability, and compliance with quality standards.
  • The GM will lead the management team in achieving business goals, managing day-to-day operations, and driving a culture of excellence within the hotel.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily operations of all hotel departments, including front desk, housekeeping, food & beverage, maintenance, and guest services.
  • Ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction by reviewing feedback, resolving guest complaints promptly, and fostering a guest-centric environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of rooms, public areas, and facilities to maintain brand standards and cleanliness.
  • Implement efficient processes to maximize productivity and guest experience.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.

Financial Management:

  • Develop, manage, and monitor the annual budget, ensuring alignment with financial goals and cost controls.
  • Manage expenses to optimize operational costs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to implement effective marketing strategies.
  • Monitor financial performance through profit-and-loss statements, key metrics, and forecasts.
  • Identify revenue-generating opportunities and implement strategies to increase occupancy, average daily rate (ADR), and overall revenue.

Human Resources & Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, train, and develop hotel staff, ensuring team members are highly motivated and providing exceptional service.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and performance-driven work culture that aligns with the hotel’s mission and values.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, employment regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback, coaching, and development opportunities for department heads and team members.

Guest Relations & Customer Service:

  • Lead by example in delivering superior guest service and maintaining high standards of hospitality.
  • Engage with guests, ensuring their needs are met and concerns are addressed promptly.
  • Continuously improve guest services and implement programs that enhance the guest experience.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with VIPs, repeat guests, and local business leaders.

Sales & Marketing Support:

  • Work with the sales and marketing team to implement promotions, packages, and events that drive occupancy and revenue.
  • Participate in community and networking events to promote the hotel and increase brand visibility.
  • Monitor market trends, competition, and customer preferences to adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Build and maintain relationships with travel agents, corporate accounts, and third-party booking platforms.

Strategic Planning:

  • Set short-term and long-term goals to ensure hotel growth and sustained profitability.
  • Analyze market trends and adjust operational and sales strategies accordingly.
  • Oversee renovations and expansion projects in collaboration with ownership and contractors.
  • Implement sustainability initiatives and corporate social responsibility programs.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory with relevant experience).
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in hotel management or a related leadership role in the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems efficiently.
  • Proficiency in hotel management software (e.g., Opera, MICROS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of industry-specific regulations, safety standards, and licensing.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Excellent financial acumen with a proven track record of achieving profitability.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, guests, and stakeholders.

Salary

N400,000 Monthly.
