Global Village Healthcare Initiative for Africa (GHIV Africa) is a Non-governmental, Non-for profit humanitarian/Developmental organization which started in 2014. We deliver assistance to affected populations before, during and after crisis situations. GHIV Africa was founded to mitigate the health deficit in Africa and to provide all forms of assistance leading to improved quality of life.

The organization is equally poised to support the delivery of healthcare services at the doorsteps of every African village by bridging the gap between primary health care delivery and tertiary health care services through a robust referral system. Job Title: Program Assistant

Locations: Shinkafi, Maradun & Gusau LGAs, Zamfara

Project Title: Leading the Global Agenda to End Child Marriage by 2030

Reporting to: Program Officer

Duration: October 2024 – November 2025

Job Summary

  • GHIV Africa seeks a Program Assistant to support the implementation of child protection activities, focusing on ending child marriage, in Zamfara State.

Responsibilities

  • Support community sensitization and awareness creation on child protection issues and the negative impact of early marriages by vetting the activities MoVs making sure they are in line with the workplans, Budget and the project document
  • Assist in facilitating workshops with government stakeholders, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and other relevant stakeholders by vetting the activities MoVs making sure they are in line with the workplans, Budget and the project documents.
  • Support the establishment and management of safe spaces for adolescent girls by vetting the activities MoVs making sure they are in line with the workplans, Budget and the project documents
  • Assist in training adolescent girls on life skills, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) knowledge, and services by vetting the activities MoVs making sure they are in line with the workplans, Budget and the project documents
  • Assist in distributing startup kits for income-generating activities to adolescent girls by ensuring confidentiality/Data protection, child protection, PSEA, and GBV policies is applied by enrolling and dealing with children.
  • Develop and submit project reports, success stories, and lessons learned.
  • Provide technical support and capacity building for project staff and partners.
  • Facilitate community engagement, participation, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Organize and assist in facilitating project review meetings.
  • Develop monthly work plans on implementations
  • Provide technical and programmatic support for comprehensive case management services, including counseling and referrals by vetting the activities MoVs making sure they are in line with the workplans, Budget and the project documents.
  • Ensure registration of adolescents on the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS) data platform, by ensuring confidentiality and child protection, PSEA, and GBV policies is applied by enrolling and dealing with children
  • Collaborate with vocational training providers to deliver entrepreneurship skills training by ensuring confidentiality and child protection, PSEA, and GBV policies is applied by enrolling and dealing with children
  • Assign to any other related duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum of Diploma in Social Sciences, Psychology, or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in child protection, social work, or related field.
  • Ability to work in challenging environments.
  • Fluency in local languages (Hausa and Fulani) and English.
  • Adequate knowledge in Project management cycle, and experience working on multi project implementation.
  • Strong community engagement and facilitation skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working with INGOs/NNGOs or similar organizations.
  • Knowledge of CPIMS data platform.
  • Familiarity with Zamfara State’s cultural context, and the insurgency.
