PRIDE committed to strengthen and promote; community governance, human right of children, women, youth and girls, community empowerment, protection monitoring, community mobilization, awareness rising and sensitization on protection issues/concerns and health related matters, livelihood support, skills building, agricultural empowerment, housing land and property (HLP) through proactive project and programs. PRIDE immensely improved the psychosocial wellbeing of IDPs, IDP returnees and refugee returnees, and reach out to more than 200, 000 affected persons across BAY Northeast Nigeria with positive impacts in enhancing resilience aspects.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Camp Coordination & Camp Management Officer

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Employment Type: Contract

Reports to: Camp Coordination and Camp Management Team Lead

Duration: 6 months

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a motivated professional to support the coordination and management of our community camp activities, ensuring effective delivery of services, protection, and support to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities.
  • The successful candidate will assist in camp management, coordination, and community engagement, working closely with stakeholders, including government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and community leaders.

Responsibilities

Camp Management:

  • Assist in managing and coordinating camp activities.
  • Conduct regular camp monitoring and reporting.
  • Support camp maintenance, infrastructure development, and upgrade.
  • Supervise camp staff, fostering a culture of respect and accountability.

Community Engagement and Coordination:

  • Facilitate community participation in camp decision-making processes.
  • Ensure effective information sharing and feedback mechanisms.
  • Build relationships with community leaders and local authorities.
  • Coordinate with partners to provide services (e.g., water, sanitation, health, education).

Protection and Accountability:

  • Support protection mainstreaming and accountability measures.
  • Identify and report protection concerns, including gender-based violence.
  • Ensure camp residents’ rights and dignity are respected.

Reporting and Monitoring:

  • Assist in compiling and submitting regular reports.
  • Track camp activities, progress, and challenges.
  • Conduct capacity assessments and training for camp staff.

Representation and Collaboration:

  • Represent the organization in camp coordination meetings.
  • Collaborate with government agencies and NGOs.
  • Ensure alignment with national and global camp management standards.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Humanitarian Studies, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in camp management, humanitarian response, or related field.
  • Proven experience working with IDPs, refugees, or vulnerable populations.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field.
  • Experience with other humanitarian agencies.
  • Knowledge of international humanitarian law and human rights.

Skills:

  • Strong communication, coordination, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Fluency in English and local languages (e.g., Hausa, Kanuri).

Core Competencies:

  • Understanding of humanitarian principles and standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Experience with community engagement and participation.
