Job Title: Investment Analyst

Reporting Line: Chief Investment Officer

Job Summary

  • Volition Cap seeks an Investment Analyst (IA). The Investment Analyst will play a crucial role in researching & analysing investment assets, then place and monitor those investments.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent financial modelling aptitude, driven negotiation skills, and a deep appreciation for documentation.
  • They will also keep up with key shifts in policy by regulatory bodies.

Roles & Responsibilities

Market Research & Investment Analysis:

  • Stay abreast of economic indicators, market trends, and regulatory developments.
  • Research and analyse investment opportunities.
  • Make recommendations to the Investment Committee on appropriate investments.

Investment Due Diligence:

  • Perform comprehensive due diligence on potential investments, in conjunction with our lawyers and consultants.
  • Evaluate due diligence reports and make recommendations based on risk-return profiles.

Investment Placement & Monitoring:

  • Take instructions from the Investment Committee to place investments with relevant counterparties.
  • Monitor all assets and liquidate when due.
  • Provide timely reports on investment performance
  • Manage counterparty relationships and online account

Financial Modeling:

  • Develop and maintain financial models to assess investment opportunities and risks.
  • Evaluate financial statements, cash flow, and other relevant financial metrics.

Skills Set and Values:

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, drive and follow-through.
  • Deep knowledge of markets and finance.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • An analytical mind comfortable with numbers.
  • Ability to ask probing questions, negotiate favourable terms and foster consensus.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A Degree in Finance, Business, Commerce, Economics or any relevant field.
  • Solid knowledge of financial statements and accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modelling.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • 3 – 4 years work experience in a similar role.
  • Strong investment analysis background.
