Job Title: Construction Foreman

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Foreman to plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications within the construction firm.
  • They lead and supervise construction crews, monitor progress, enforce safety regulations, and facilitate communication between various stakeholders.

Essential Duties / Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following

  • Supervision of Construction Crews: Lead and supervise construction crews, including subcontractors and laborers, to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications.
  • Work Planning and Coordination: Plan daily work schedules, assign tasks to crew members, and coordinate workflow to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Safety Management: Enforce safety regulations and procedures on the construction site, conduct safety meetings, and ensure that all workers comply with safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Quality Control: Monitor workmanship and construction quality to ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Communication and Coordination: Facilitate communication between project stakeholders, including project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients, to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Cost Management: Assist in monitoring project costs and expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and minimize waste to optimize project profitability.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to construction crew members to enhance their skills, productivity, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Material and Equipment Management: Coordinate the delivery of materials and equipment to the construction site, ensure proper storage and handling, and oversee equipment maintenance to support construction activities.
  • Progress Reporting: Provide regular progress reports to project managers, including updates on work completed, upcoming tasks, and any issues or delays encountered.
  • Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflicts or disputes that may arise among crew members, subcontractors, or other stakeholders on the construction site in a timely and professional manner.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Safety Performance: Measure the number of safety incidents or accidents on the construction site.
  • Productivity: Track the completion of work tasks against planned schedules and targets.
  • Quality of Workmanship: Assess the adherence to quality standards and specifications in construction activities.
  • Team Performance: Assess crew performance in terms of teamwork, communication, and collaboration.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Material and Equipment Management: Evaluate the efficiency of material and equipment utilization and management on the construction site.
  • Training and Development: Monitor the skills development and training participation of construction crew members.
  • Timeliness of Project Completion: Measure the percentage of projects completed on time.
  • Cost Control: Evaluate the adherence to budgetary constraints and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Client Satisfaction: Solicit feedback from clients regarding satisfaction with construction progress and outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in construction management or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate construction crews.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 9 years of proven experience as a construction foreman or supervisor, preferably in commercial or residential construction projects.
  • Familiarity with construction methods, materials, tools, and equipment, as well as safety regulations and building codes.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to and from construction sites as needed.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work outdoors and in various weather conditions.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects as necessary.
  • Familiarity with construction safety protocols and practices, including OSHA regulations.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as required by project schedules.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and professionalism in all aspects of work.

Salary

N150,000 – N200,000 Monthly.
