We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Field Operator III

Location: Offshore, Lagos

Employment Type: Part-time

Main Function

  • Operate equipment and wells by applying operating and safety procedures and guidelines to meet daily operational plan, reduce equipment failure and efficiently resources administration

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementing on daily work objectives, housekeeping, safety, health, environmental and security
  • Active participation on daily toolbox meetings and regular, reported safety meetings
  • Identify and implement corrective and optimization actions by the continuous surveillance of wells and equipment to ensure reliable, efficient and safe operational conditions
  • Function as Equipment Care Technician, and routinely use Maintenance skills in performing simple maintenance activities
  • Report when the alarm, emergency or emergency shutdown system is out of service
  • Provide detailed, clear and accurate information when changing shift, to guarantee that unit conditions are updated and ensure operations continuity
  • Coordinate, control and monitor maintenance jobs according with the corrective, predictive and preventive planning
  • Provide the basic facts concerning well-producing problems, current production rates, and current condition of the well
  • Ensure that the well problem diagnostics are thorough and complete before requesting Well Work intervention operations
  • Ensure that the wellhead and well surface equipment are maintained and are in good working order prior to Wellwork operations taking over responsibility for the well for intervention operations
  • Provide assistance and support to the ongoing Wellwork operations as needed
  • Report continuously in the log book all relevant operational events and abnormal situations or deviation occurred in the work area, equipment or personnel
  • Take samples of products for laboratory analysis and execute field laboratory tests
  • Active participation on emergency response activities
  • Report incidents internally and escalate awareness as per the Incident Reporting Guidelines
  • Ensure that the Operations Shift Supervisor is informed and consulted about operations activities
  • Ensure good communication across the work team so that issues / actions can be adequately addressed

Skills and Qualifications

  • Completed Secondary Education and worked previously as a Field Technician.
  • Strong communication (oral & written)
  • Strong knowledge of Emergency Preparedness Procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of Project Philosophy and Design Specifications
  • Knowledgeable of relevant regulations
  • Knowledgeable of relevant commercial agreements
  • High standard of Safety, Health, and Environment aptitude and cultivates the same in others.
  • Extensive knowledge and/or experience of pipeline operations
  • Extensive knowledge of safety and operations management tools and processes

Additional Information:

  • Completion of a minimum of 6 months technical training school program in Petroleum processing or Operations sponsored by an IOC (Exxon, Shell, Total, Chevron)
  • Over 10 years min. work experience as an operator on an IOC’s offshore separation and gas compression facility including the following
  • Operations experience on an IOC’s FPSO will be an advantage
  • Experience as a Subsea Operator on an FPSO will be an advantage
  • Substantial experience as an Operations Lead will be an advantage
  • 5 years minimum work experience as a field operator on an IOC’s offshore separation and gas compression facility
  • 5 years minimum work experience as a DCS operator on an IOC’s offshore separation and gas compression facility – substantial experience with managing process upsets required
  • 5 years min. work experience with electronic Permit-to-Work System as a core operator on an IOCs offshore facility
  • Excellent familiarity with oil and gas processing plants safety systems
  • Vast experience with preparing AND implementing complex isolation plans – marking up P&IDs, developing isolation and de-isolation sequence – completion of process risk assessment training will be an advantage
  • Possesses the highest standard of safety, health and environment aptitude and cultivates the same in others
  • Broad knowledge of emergency preparedness procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and motivation skills
  • Able to effectively interact in a multi-cultural environment
  • OND Degree or higher from a reputable academic institution
  • Degree in Petroleum Processing or related course is preferred
  • Vast experience with preparing temporary defeat certificates, leveraging a sound understanding of process safety, risks and controls –
  • Excellent understanding of operating principles and surveillance of key oil and gas equipment including pumps (centrifugal, reciprocating, screw etc.), internal combustion engines (gas turbines, diesel engines) and centrifugal compressors
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
