The Staff School, Lagos State University was established on 2nd October, 1987 as a primary school for the children of staff of the university. The school currently has over fifty dedicated, qualified and experienced teachers.

The Staff School Management Board hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position below:

 

Job Tile: Head Teacher

Location: Ojo, Lagos

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Head Teacher shall be responsible for the day to day administration of the school.
  • The candidate shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the administration of the school through the LASU Staff School Management Board.

Qualifications

The applicant must:

  • Candidates should possess a good honours Degree with at least Second Class (Lower Division) in any Education course from recognised University, plus M.Ed. in relevant discipline
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years cognate experience of which three (3) years must be at senior administrative position, e.g. Assistant Head Teacher in a University Staff School or equivalent institutions Or
  • Possess a good honours Degree with at least Second Class (Lower Division) in any non-Education course from a recognized University plus Post-Graduate Diploma in Education plus M.Ed. in relevant discipline
  • Be a time manager, an insightful leader, an effective change agent, a good disciplinarian who exudes inspirational power that can motivate his/her teammates and the entire organs of the School to achieve the vision of the School.
  • Be versatile in modern management techniques and in the employment of Total Quality Management (TQM) to achieve organisational goals.
  • Be ICT compliant and he/she must be familiar with and be ready to deploy the latest relevant technologies used in primary schools in developed countries for teaching and learning in the Staff School.
  • Enjoy good physical and mental health.
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years cognate experience of which three (3) years must be at senior administrative position, e.g. Assistant Head Teacher in a University Staff School or equivalent institutions.
  • Be a registered member of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
  • Be able to provide the School with dynamic, innovative, visionary and pragmatic leadership.
  • Have an achievable and measurable vision, a mission statement, a good sense of purpose, a good sense of direction and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Be morally scrupulous with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Applicant should be able to perform any other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be directed by the Board.

Conditions of Service

  • The successful candidate shall hold office for a term of four (4) years in the first instance. The appointment is renewable for another term of four (4) years and no more.
  • If the candidate has not attained the mandatory retirement age, upon completion of his/her term as Head Teacher, he/she may be redeployed as Senior Tutor in the Staff School, or the University Secondary School, with a personalised salary.
