Job Title: Import and Export Manager

Location: Agbara, Ogun

Employment Type: Full time

Job Objectives

  • Responsible for managing day-to-day foreign trade activities and in strict compliance with all applicable import laws and regulations, in the most cost and time-efficient manner.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manages the movement of products/equipment/materials/spares in and/or out of the country in accordance with organizational policy and procedure, and to comply with relevant local and international laws and processes.
  • Develops and implements import/export strategy and activities consistent with the overall aims and requirements of the organization.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures related to imports and exports.
  • Manages the necessary documentation and online forms for the efficient, cost-effective and lawful execution of all import/export activities.
  • Ensures the best quality service through the establishment of import-export documentation in full and on time.
  • Maintains and shares with colleagues as appropriate, knowledge of all relevant import/export laws and procedures; tariffs and duties; licences and restrictions.
  • Prepares and submits required reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides oversight and direction to the employees within the department in accordance with GZI’s policies and procedures.
  • Coaches, mentors and develops all direct reports.
  • Manages and fosters good relationships with relevant government agencies to ensure prompt delivery of procured commodities.
  • Oversees the purchase of Insurance Certificates, processing of Form M, Pre-Arrival Assessment Report  (PAAR) and other relevant custom clearing documents.
  • Ensures shipping/customs clearing documents conform with requirements.
  • Communicates with export and import and related authorities, and customers and suppliers, in all relevant territories and countries, as necessary to ensure efficient, positive and lawful relations, support and activities.
  • Anticipates, researches and reports on future changes in import/export laws and in relevant local territory practices, and ensures such knowledge is factored into the planning of the department’s own strategy,  resources and procedures.

Integrated Management System:

  • Documents, implements and maintains the requirements of the Quality, Food Safety, Environment, Health and Safety management systems.

Health, Safety and Environment:

  • Carries out all tasks and activities in compliance with all the applicable Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
  • Adheres strictly to HSE regulations by ensuring PPE and safety tools provided are used at all times.
