Job Title: Marine Procurement Officer

Location: Lekki, Lagos

Job Overview

  • The Marine Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing the procurement activities related to our maritime operations.
  • This includes sourcing and purchasing marine equipment, supplies, and services necessary for the efficient operation of our fleet and marine projects.
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the marine industry, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Management:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for marine equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers, ensuring they meet company standards for quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure the best possible terms.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records and documentation.
  • Prepare reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost savings initiatives.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers promptly and professionally.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and implement improvement plans as necessary.

Inventory and Supply Chain Management:

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to support marine operations without overstocking.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to understand and meet their procurement needs.
  • Manage logistics and transportation of marine supplies, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.

Budget and Cost Control:

  • Prepare and manage procurement budgets, ensuring cost efficiency.
  • Track and report on procurement expenditures, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends and pricing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the marine or oil & gas industries.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong knowledge of marine equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Skills:

  • Professional certification in procurement (e.g., CIPS, CPSM).
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with international shipping and logistics.
