Job Title: Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant

Job Summary
- The Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant assistant will work closely with Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant Coordinator in deploying Nuru Nigeria’s program strategy in the Gumti area of Toungo LGA to Implement the Gumti sustainable livelihoods project through a holistic and inclusive journey towards attaining self-reliance that contribute to the conservation of natural resources and the protection of the Gashaka-Gumti National Park.
- The Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant assistant will assist in overseeing data collection, processing, quality checking, storage and sharing outcomes in a timely manner to support the data-driven decision by the NN management team. While providing a periodic summary of actionable insights tailored to the project’s unique context and goals.
- He or she will collaborate with team members to develop and implement the key pillars that are essential for nurturing holistic development, resilience, and conservation within the community. Foremost among these pillars is ensuring food and nutrition security for participating households through profitable and sustainable agribusiness enterprises.
Responsibilities
The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Support the Monitoring and Evaluation coordinator in executing the Monitoring and Evaluation strategy for the project.
- Support in the effective design of templates and standard data tools that support efficiency and effectiveness in program delivery of Monitoring and Evaluation for all Nuru Nigeria’s projects.
- Provide feedback to the project team on project strategies and activity performance
- Suggest strategies to the project team for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the project by identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimise or eliminate such bottlenecks
- Support in developing impact indicator for the project success and tracking it against outcome/impact
- Support in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, interpretation and communication of learnings to relevant/key Project and Management teams, to aid strategic thinking and decision making.
- Contributing to the development and utilisation of monitoring tools, including pre and post training tests, surveys, discussion guides etc, and ensuring that the data tools are properly used.
- Support in organising data collection and analysis for beneficiary and community selection.
- Support in scripting of survey questionnaires using industry specific software e.g. xls form
- Support in facilitating and monitoring research activities (e.g. key informant/in-depth interviews, focus group sessions, quantitative surveys, farmer association recruitment and registrations etc.), working to time, budget and proposals.
- Undertake the supervision and ensure quality control/assurance of Monitoring and Evaluation fieldwork
- Support Monitoring and Evaluation coordinator in preparation of data for monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Support the procurement of freelancers/research assistants for Monitoring and Evaluation activities.
- Ensure the accurate and timely collection of program data from the field and accurate reports for decision-making, donors and various stakeholders.
- Undertake the supervision and ensure quality control/assurance of Monitoring and Evaluation fieldwork.
- Support in the design of research sampling, research instruments (e.g. discussion guides and questionnaires) and design of presentation charts.
- Undertake administrative duties to include documentation, pre-fieldwork logistic planning and resource acquisition. As well as findings from data quality audit and store in project files to ensure collective and sustainable access.
- Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
- Respect for Nuru Nigeria identity, rules and policies.
- Travel regularly to support the programs team to conduct site monitoring activities in respective implementation sites.
- Support in managing the project monitoring database system by updating tracking systems for permagarden activity, financial inclusion activity, registered households and the various programs enrolled to, referrals to other implementing partners and other program elements as might be required by donors.
- Support in harvesting success stories that align with project outcomes/impacts.
- Support in facilitating the dissemination of information through community stakeholders engagements and NN communications outputs (fact sheets, success stories, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop Nuru Nigeria programs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Entry-level position prior experience in Monitoring and Evaluation is an asset but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and g-drive.
- Knowledge and use of Mobile data collection and visualisation tools especially ODK, Kobo and SurveyCTO
- Ability to respond positively to critical feedback and different points of view
- Experience in facilitating adult learning and leading team of enumerators
- Demonstrated passion for impact measurement and a commitment to learning and professional development.
- Basic analytical skills with the ability to interpret and summarise data effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to communicate effectively within a team environment.
