Job Title: Program Officer
Location: Lagos

Job Summary
- The Program Officer will oversee the development and implementation of socio-economic empowerment programs/projects aimed at achieving the organisation’s strategic goals.
- This role involves managing specific programs, providing technical assistance, supporting team members and stakeholders, and ensuring the timely execution of activities within the allocated budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and guide the implementation of project activities, ensuring alignment with organizational values and timely completion within the budget.
- Collaborate with the program team to develop program strategies, draft proposals and reports, and support monitoring and evaluation efforts.
- Assist in managing financial expenditures, negotiating with vendors, and tracking activity budgets.
- Execute tasks and functions as directed by the Program Manager/Country Manager.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and implement program activities, including training sessions, meetings, workshops, conferences, and other events as required by organizational work plans.
- Design and develop program interventions aligned with organizational objectives and available budgets.
- Research, write, and edit program documents, including budgets, socio-economic updates, blog articles, publications, activity reports, funding proposals, and training materials.
- Handle administrative and financial matters efficiently, including written assignments and report submissions.
- Mobilize program participants, media, and stakeholders for events and initiatives.
- Maintain and update program files and participant contacts for effective monitoring, evaluation, and internal reporting.
- Monitor socio-economic developments in Africa to provide analysis and recommendations for programmatic adjustments.
- Travel independently or as part of a team to various locations to support programmatic objectives.
- Build and maintain relationships with sector actors, civil society organizations, and represent the organization at public functions as requested.
- Collaborate with program personnel to monitor and evaluate the performance of programs, vendors, consultants, and partners, and recommend program adjustments.
- Lead and support team projects, developing work products in collaboration with team members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Social Development, International Relations, Arts, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Familiarity with nonprofit strategies, logical frameworks, Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE), and socio-economic contexts.
- Experience in writing reports and project proposals.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, and organize tasks within tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proven experience in promoting sustainable economic participation of women and youth.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit work, international development, and socio-economic empowerment programs, with a focus on women, youth, or entrepreneurs.
- Proven experience with donor-funded economic empowerment programs, education, and capacity-building initiatives.
- Strong background in project cycle management, including coordinating activities, financial management, and monitoring and evaluation.
Desired Attributes:
- Highly organized with the ability to manage a diverse workload effectively.
- Proficiency with platforms and technology tools such as Teachable, Zoom, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team to achieve organizational and program objectives.
- Experience in nonprofit or international development sectors, preferably with a focus on women, youth, or entrepreneurs.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas, strategies, and policies clearly.
- Experience in event organization with strong attention to detail and coordination skills.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to present and explain information clearly.
Salary Budget
N6,403,584.10 Annual Gross.
