DescriptionÂ
- The key purpose of the Zone Environment and Safety Specialist is to define, develop and audit Safety and environment systems, standards and work practices for the Africa Zone to achieve targets set for the VPO Safety and environment Pillars and Safety and Environment KPI’s targets for the year while assisting the sites to manage their Safety & Environmental risks.
- Manage incident reporting and legal compliance updates for all sites in the zone. Ensure compliance to global safety and environment standards across all sites including Clear Beer, TAB & VOPs.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Routine site engagements with plant safety and environment managers and plant managers
- Assist in setting safety and environment targets for all sites and zone safety and environment teams
- Coaching of regional resources on all Safety and environment standards (SOPs) including incident reporting and management, and supporting the plants to identify root causes for any incidents, developing effective preventative and corrective actions
- Conduct site safety and environment audits
- Cascading of the Environment and Safety Strategy and supporting the plants with implementation
- Scope projects required to improve the VPO Safety and/or Environment Pillar maturity including Capex and ZBB requirements and projects required to manage safety and environmental risks on site and improve performance on site
- Conduct selected investigations into safety and environment incidents across the Zone and drive closure of investigations, gaps and legal compliance across the Zone
Profile
- Tertiary Degree (BSc or BTech in a related field)
- 5 years’ work experience related to Safety Management and / or Engineering Management or in a management position in a brewery
- Government safety/legal accredited qualification (SA GCC Factories or equivalent) Professional Engineering accreditation (advantageous)
- Worked as an environment or safety Manager at a plant would be advantageous
